Incorporate Your Favorite Agropur Grand Cheddar
Into Your Tasting Soirées.

Here are the basic guidelines to follow in order to achieve a memorable tasting event:

  • Step 1
  • Step 2
  • Step 3
  • Step 4

Generally, mild cheeses call for light-bodied wines while strong cheeses need full-bodied wines. Strong cheddars are best enjoyed with full-bodied red wines such as Bordeaux, Côtes-du-Rhône, Rioja or Chianti. For a different experience, try Agropur Grand Cheddar with a blond or red beer or even with a black beer whose bitter taste will set off the sweet flavour trapped in the cheese's crystals, leaving you with a remarkable after-taste.

To Appreciate Agropur Grand Cheddar...

There are aromas that impinge on your nose as well as flavours you perceive with the taste buds on your tongue. You can also evaluate the texture with your fingers and with the sensory buds in your mouth. Inhale oxygen into the mouth before sampling; unlike wine, inhale through your nose, not your mouth. Take a bite and chew slowly while letting the morsel melt on the tip of your tongue. Try to distinguish the four key elements of taste: salty, sweet, bitter and sour.

Describe your assessment according to:

  • Aroma
  • Texture to touch and in the mouth
  • Flavours and sensations in the mouth

Add a sip of wine or beer to enhance the experience. Blend the flavours on your tongue to discern the four key elements of the new taste.
