Exported for many years to the United Kingdom Agropur Grand Cheddar is the cheese that has won the most distinctions on the international scene.

Cheese Contests

Pure and tasty raw material supported by recognized know-how is key to making cheese that delights connoisseurs. In a Best-Cheese Contest, assessment is made by a jury of renowned specialists from the agro-food, dietary sciences and gastronomy sectors. Each type of cheese has unique characteristics brought forth by a special blend of ingredients. Cheddars are evaluated according to: flavour, texture, density, colour, and finish.

Points are given for each attribute. Quality cheddar distinguishes itself by its flavour and texture, therefore most of the points are allotted to these two criteria. That's why Agropur Grand Cheddar is a winner. Harmonious taste and firm, crumbly texture give it a distinct hazelnut flavour that deepens with time. Choosing such a well-aged cheese comes naturally to connoisseurs.

International Recognition

Who better than consumers themselves to judge their favorite cheeses?

Once again Agropur took top honours at the 2010 World Championship Cheese Contest held in Wisconsin, USA. This prestigious event, held every two years since 1957, is one of the world's largest cheese competitions.

Agropur's cheddars received top honours ten times - four times as world's best aged cheddar - from 1996 to 2010, which puts Agropur Cooperative at the top.

Agropur carries the fine distinction of being awarded the Sélection Caseus Grand Prix du Public for the Agropur Grand Cheddar aged 3 years. This is an important distinction for Agropur Grand Cheddar which exemplifies, once again, not only its fine quality, but the continuing love story with its consumers.
